Finally I had made it to the campsite open on the Island Closest to Heaven, situated next to the open top arena they had made for the occasion, along with the other two “competitors” that Balamb Garden could muster up. The trip had seemed to take forever because I really just couldn’t stand having to sit with Amne and that Thadeous guy. I Didn’t talk to either one of them the whole way there. I mean, why should I even bother wasting my time with small talk with my pathetic sister or some geeky guy that looked like a weakling. Thadeous wasn’t even looking at me which I found really funny since every guy looked at me. It was in their nature, because I seemed to produce some confident charm that no guy could resist. Maybe he was gay or something? Either way, I thought he was an uggo so I didn’t care if he didn’t look at me. It’s not like I actually wanted any of the other guys staring at me all the time either. I noticed that Amne seemed to be trying to make polite conversation with him all the time like the nice little girl she was. It made me want to throw up. So like I said; I was glad to be on the Island Closest to Heaven, out in the open so that I could avoid those to morons. I knew for a fact that if I had to fight Amne or Thadeous in the Holy Mission tournament, I didn’t have anything to worry about. As was common knowledge, though nobody was willing to say it out loud, everyone knew I could defeat Amne based on the incident during the week. As for Thadeous, well, he really didn’t impress me. Still, I wanted to have a look at Muthrik, Gresh and Dilaminous to see if they looked like I could take them in a battle. I was given some files on them on the way over by one of our instructors, but I never believed you could learn about someone by reading about them. You have to meet them for yourself.
“Hello Renea and welcome to this event hosted by Trabia Garden!” an over excited girl screamed at me. I didn’t even meet her awestruck gaze.
“Goodbye.” I said, before she was able to say anything else and I walked away from her briskly. I was mildly annoyed when I head her footsteps skipping behind me until she had jumped in my way blocking my path.
“No, wait I have been assigned to show you around the camp site and arena.” She said, smiling at me and offering me her hand graciously. “I’m Miana.” she added. This girl had better get away from me and leave me alone or else I was going to hit her.
“Get lost you little brat!” I spat, adding as much venom as I could to try to get the point across to her stupid dazed brain. “I don’t need anyone to show me around. You got that?” Making my added statement sound as cold as I could make it. Her cheeks burned a bright shade of red and I could see some tears showing in her eyes. I guess I must have hurt her feelings. Awesome.
“Oh, are you going to cry like a baby? Grow up!” I snapped as I walked away with a happy song in my heart. Once again I could hear her footsteps behind me, only this time without the giddy little skip. Could she not take my less than subtle hint? Was she really that stupid? I stopped abruptly and turned to her, not making any effort to hide my irritation.
“Leave me alone!” I said slowly, putting a quiet emphasis on my words to give them power.
“No, I can’t. It’s my job to help you feel at home here… So that is that is what I’m going to do. Even if you are rude and scary.” She said, becoming extremely quite as she finished speaking. She stared at me, with her determined puffy eyes trying to meet mine. My fist clenched up tightly and I was getting ready to knock her out with one solid punch when I saw Amne walking into my eye shot. Well I knew which one of these two I wanted to punch more. I grinned at the thought of hurting my sister again. Amne stopped right next to Miana and gave her a stupid looking smile which only furthered my wish to punch her.
“You can show me around if you like.” Amne said, still smiling.
“But I have been told to looked after Renea.” she said as she looked between the two us. She seemed overly intrigued by how much we looked alike. I rolled my eyes at the thought of twins being such an oddity to this stupid girl.
“Trust me.” Amne said as she gave me a look of disgust and led the lame ass whining little girl away from me. I decided to let the two babies go off and hug each other and tell each other how hard their life is. I didn’t give a damn about them.
The Trabia Garden Headmaster was addressing a gathering of people in regards to this year‘s Holy Mission tournament. From what I heard him say, I didn‘t see why any of them were interested in any of the tedious babble he was excreting from his lips, they were most likely in love with him or something. That was when I first saw Dilaminous, sitting around near the crowd looking about as bored as I was. Everyone else’s eyes where glued to the headmaster, but Dilaminous was looking up at the roof of the tent with his hands rested behind his head. To me, he seemed interesting rather than a threat. He caught me looking at him and he looked back, then he winked at me. Okay, now I just think he’s stupid, so I looked away. I heard him laughing at my reaction.
After the long and boring meeting with the headmaster, I thought I would get some training in before the tournament tomorrow. I grabbed some random kid that was walking past.
“Where is the best place to find a good battle?” I asked, not caring if I sounded rude. He just looked at me dumbly, showing what a complete idiot he was, before he opened his mouth and said something along the lines of “I don’t know anything.” Still, I knew that the prospect of hunting things on this island was exciting as I had never fought anything this far away from my own Garden before and I wagered that there would be some bad ass monsters around here that would be fun to kill.
I made my way outside of the camp site and the first thing I noticed was that I couldn’t believe how cold it was out here. I loved the cold, it was just like me. I loved the way it tries to hurt you no matter how hard you pushed against it. If you could fight in this cold you was at least worth a look from me. I looked around for something to prey on and some blue Bugs which weren’t worth looking at were the only things I could see at first. Then, something big and strong with large heavy feet caught my eyes and I knew I had to fight the chimera. The anticipation of such a battle shot through me and I couldn’t wait to rip it apart. I reached down to pull my gunblade out of its holster and began to head towards the wild beast. As it saw me, at first it didn’t move, seeming to make up its mind on whether or not I was a threat. Then, it began to charge at me. The prospect of taking on the four heads was exciting. The lion head tried to strike first, trying to bite at me, and I easily parried that attack with my blade, knocking it off balance with my own strike. The lizard tried next, trying to shoot me with its aqua breath, but I had rolled out of the way in time to avoid it. I had already showered today and didn’t need to get drenched before the tournament. The hawk attempted to cast an ice attack on me, which was its first mistake. Ice was my affinity, so I absorbed the attack and charged back at the beast. My blade felt part of me as I slashed across the snake headed tail, causing it to recoil back. I knew I had it exactly where I wanted it, with only a few strong shots needed to finish it off. From out of nowhere, a slash of a sword chopped right through the snake’s head, decapitating it in one. The other three heads looked around in shock, which gave him time to roll forward and impale the creature’s heart. The man then stood up, with a huge smirk on his face as he turned to face me. It was Dilaminous.
“How’s it going?” He said casually, ignoring the fact that he had the audacity to steal my kill.
“It was going fine, until some lowlife creep figured he‘d try to impress me by finishing off a monster that I could handle on my own.” I said to him, annoyed at the fact he had interrupted me. “And now I have to find another chimera.” I added coldly.
“Before you do that, I have an idea that you might be interested in.” He said, proceeding to turn away from me as if I’d follow him.
“I highly doubt that.” I responded, though I was intrigued at what his idea might be.
“Believe me, I think you’ll like this.” He replied, and I couldn’t help but follow.
