“What happened to my sister?” I asked, making sure I sounded concerned and emotional to my instructor who had just let everyone know that Amne was in the infirmary.
“She was stabbed in the shoulder. Don’t worry, she will recover. Now, If anyone saw what happened then I need you to step forward, any information at all will be very helpful. Perhaps she was arguing with someone beforehand?” The instructor looked around the room hoping that one of these spineless freaks would step forward and say something. I stood up and walked to the front of the class and made myself look the part by allowing myself to shake slightly.
“Who ever did this to is going to pay! I want to know right now who did this to my sister!” I yelled, letting my voice break a couple of times to show my overwhelming emotion, selling my performance brilliantly. I turned to look at the teacher, holding my hand to my eyes as if it was all too much to think about. If I was watching someone else act the way I was, it would probably make me laugh or vomit, I was so good. I was then interrupted as I heard an annoyed laugh come from behind me. When I turned to see the culprit, I found that it was one of the boys that had witnessed the stabbing. He had dark brown hair that was in a bit of a mess, which helped me to recognise him, I had only seen the brainless boy a few times. I shot a serious look at him, allowing him to know that I knew he knew what had happened, before I stormed over to him, trying to act indignant.
“What is so funny? Do you know anything?” I shouted, with our faces so close to each other they were almost touching. He looked back at me from his chair and stood up towering over me, casting me in shadow. I didn’t think he was going to be so tall.
“I don’t know a thing.” he said smugly. “But you’re her sister so I’m guessing you should know everything about her…” he paused for effect, smiling for a moment, “Even her enemies.” I had to admit, this guy had guts. He saw what I would do to my own sister and now he was standing up to me. Brave or stupid? I guessed they were one in the same anyway. I smiled at him grimly as the thought that wouldn’t mind sticking my blade into his chest crossed over my mind.
“Calm down, you two. We all want to know what happened to Amne. Thankfully, as I told you, she is going to be fine.” The instructor said, with her voice raised.
“Thank goodness.” I signed when what I really wanted to say was “Kick her while she is down.” but I’m was sure that would probably give me away.
After class was over… the one class I had been to in a while, I thought I would catch up with the brave/stupid boy that had tried to stand up to me. When I did, I stood in front of him blocking his path.
“If you have the guts to stand up to me then why the hell did you not say anything? Or are you waiting until I’m not around?” I asked as I looked up at him, studying his reaction for something that might expose him.
“I’m guessing if Amne didn’t tell anyone then she would have her reason not to want anyone to know. I get the feeling she wants to protect you, though I can’t see any reason why she‘s want to.” He said coldly.
“Awww, I see you know my sister well.” I said while smiling mockingly. I didn’t know if he knew her, I was trying to make fun of him.
“In fact, I’ve never spoken to her but it’s not hard to see how much of a bitch you are and how caring she is.” He said, with his voice filled with hate. Having already allowed me to see what he thought of me, the boy tried to walk away bit I wasn’t letting him go that easy.
“You better not tell a soul or..” I said before the nutter cut me off!
“Or what? You know that long line of men that think you’re the hottest thing in this Garden? Well I’m not in it. And then there is the line of all the people who are frightened of you. Again, I’m not in that line either. The only thing that gives you power are those two lines. If people where more like me and Amne, then you would be nothing more than a pathetic little girl with a bad attitude.” He said, seeming to enjoy every syllable of his statement. His words were less enjoyable for me, making my blood boil ferociously. How dare he say that to me and how dare he not be in love with me like the rest of the pussies in this Garden. Who does he think he is, anyway?
“You think so.” I said as I threw my fist wildly at his face, angered by the fact that at the last second the bastard caught my hand and twisted it until he had me in a wrist lock.
“Who the hell are you?” I asked, frantically trying to find the leverage to twist out of his grip.
“The name is Arous. You would be wise to stay the hell away from me.” He said as he casually threw me away and I turned to face him on guard, ready for a more physical confrontation.
“Just stay the hell away from me.” He said, as he turned his back on me and walked away. As I thought how stupid he was to turn his back on me of all people, I couldn’t help but smile a little. I liked this Arous, he was alright. Nothing like any of the other idiots in this place. He would be fun, which would be a nice change. I wouldn’t mind having fun with him.
