The ride back to Trabia Garden was a long one. I’ve never actually ridden an airship before so I was a little nervous and somewhat excited as well. But it wasn’t really anything remarkable. It was a smart move to ride one back instead of draining what little magic I have stocked just so I can get there quicker. There was plenty to do in airship so I wasn’t completely bored. Marc and I pretty much spent most of our time on the deck sparring. Of course, there were a few students who watched us and thanks to Ultima’s power, my sense of hearing is a lot better so I had no problem hearing the whispers of the other students making comments about me:
“He’s taller than I thought…”
“I still think he lost on purpose with how he didn’t even flinch when Renea swung her blade at his head and all…”
“What an odd weapon…”
But I paid them no heed and continued. At some point I drew some Gravity magic from Marc, which he didn’t like at all because he said he was already running low, but I plan on starting some SeeD missions when I got back and figured it wouldn’t hurt to have a few stronger spells in my arsenal.
The trip took a little over a day to get back due to a pit stop to Galbadia Garden (one of the underclassmen realized after the ship took off that he was on the wrong airship). I’ve only seen pictures of Balamb and Galbadia Garden and was amazed at the sheer size of the place compared to Trabia Garden. There were people flying around in a type of mobile combat suit and airships docked on both sides of the Garden’s entrance where loads of students were exiting and heading towards the Garden. One of the students in a suit flew above the deck and let down a cable for the Galbadia student. The underclassman apologized to the driver numerous times, bowing deeply, only to receive a look of both impatience and annoyance from him before grabbing hold of the cable and flying off to join the other Galbadia Garden students.
Around midday and much to my relief, we finally arrived at Trabia Garden. But there seemed to be something wrong. Why was the headmaster of Galbadia Garden here and the front gates closed? I was too far away from them to hear their conversation with my hearing, but judging by the looks of our Headmaster and Galbadia’s, it looked serious. There seemed to be a few people in black suits as well. One seemed to be reading something to the headmasters.
“I wonder what’s going on,” Marc said quietly.
“No idea,” I replied, my gaze still looking forward. Something was wrong. I can feel it.
Once the airship was docked, Marc and I followed a group of students off of it towards the front gates where many other Trabia students were standing. It wasn’t long before what appeared to be the entire student body standing outside the front gates. Some had concerned looks upon their faces while some others were muttering angrily to each other, wondering why they wouldn’t let us through. After about 10 minutes, the Trabia Headmaster shook hands with the headmaster of Galbadia and the ones in black suits before turning to face us as they walked off.
“I’m very sorry for the hold up, everyone, but there has been an incident during the tournament. I apologize that I’m not at liberty to tell you all what happened for safety concerns but the Galbadian Headmaster will let me know when it’s safe to enter after the Garden has been searched.”
“Searched?” Marc asked loudly. “Why would Trabia need to be searched with all us students outside?”
“No idea,” I replied while shaking my head. “Only thing I can come up with about safety concerns is that it’s probably dangerous to be inside. Not that someone can get hurt but actually killed. Notice that even Trabia’s SeeDs are standing out here too?”
“Odd…”
The sun had started to set when the ones in the black suits and the Galbadia Headmaster came back and whispered something into our Headmaster’s ear. After a nod and another handshake, he turned to us as the others walked off again.
“Very sorry for the wait everyone,” said the Headmaster. “You are permitted to enter Trabia Garden. But from this point on, everyone is required to be accompanied by their weapons. Only until now that SeeDs and students with permission were allowed this but due to an incident such as this, all students including the newest ones must carry them.
“There were three people from Galbadia Garden that were staying here for the duration of the Holy Mission tournament and have been found dead in their respective rooms. They’re ID cards were taken but we don’t know who has done it or the reason why. We only know that Gresh also went missing right after the tournament and since he is a student of Galbadia Garden, then the culprits must want him or perhaps Gresh is working alongside them. We don’t know all the details as the ones responsible clearly weren’t amateurs with leaving very little evidence behind but this is the conclusion we have come up with. The names of these people will not be made to the public until further in this investigation.
“As a necessary precaution, I will station the strongest members of SeeD at all the entrances to the Garden and in all of the halls at all times. Unfortunately, I must also halt all nighttime activities until further notice. I will send out a letter and schedule to these SeeDs soon so until then, I wish for you all to return to your dormitories and to be on your guard from here on out.”
The Headmaster turned, motioned for the guards to open the front gates, and walked out of sight, leaving the rest of us to comprehend what he just said.
